Trouble-Making Rabbis

David J Goldberg
Elli Tikvah Sarah
Hester Abrams

Navigating the boundaries of sacred and profane David Goldberg and Elli Sarah are two rabbis who have stuck by their convictions, approaching Judaism with boldness, passion and unfailing intellectual rigour.

Their books offer templates for ‘trouble-making Judaism’, drawing on a wide range of sources, each in their own way. Although the two have divergent opinions on many issues, both struggle to redefine the more radical aspects of Jewish heritage, rendering Judaism a rich and potent tool in shaping the future.

David J Goldberg OBE is Emeritus Rabbi of The Liberal Jewish Synagogue, London. The author (most recently This is Not the Way: Jews, Judaism and the State of Israel) or editor of several books, his trenchant views about Judaism and Israel have appeared frequently over the years in newspapers, journals and on radio and TV.

Elli Tikvah Sarah is the author of Trouble-Making Judaism and has edited three books and contributed to a range of journals and anthologies. She is Rabbi of Brighton and Hove Progressive Synagogue

Hester Abrams is Director Designate at Jewish Book Week.
