You Don’t Have to Live Like This is a darkly comic and brutal vision of contemporary America in the wake of the global financial crisis.                                           
 
Benjamin Markovits grew up in Texas, London and Berlin. He is the author of seven novels and has published essays, stories, poetry and reviews in The Guardian, Granta, The Paris Review and The New York Times among other publications. He lives in London and teaches at Royal Holloway, University of London.
 
Tim Martin is a books and arts writer based in London, writing reviews, interviews and features for The Telegraph, The Times, and several other British publications. He writes The Telegraph’s Alphabet Library column, exploring a forgotten classic every week.
