Liberated Fiction: A B Yehoshua

A B Yehoshua
Chair: Linda Grant

In this session, the celebrated Israeli writer A B Yehoshua launched his latest novel, The Liberated Bride. At one level a bittersweet comedy of domestic manners set in late 1990s Israel, the novel is also a brilliant exploration of a politically divided society in which decent people, both Jews and Arabs, try to live alongside each other. In conversation with Linda Grant, and in front of an audience packed to capacity, Yehoshua considered how the simple aspirations of ordinary people illuminate the larger issues of life.

A B Yehoshua's prize-winning novels include Mr Mani (1993), Open Heart (1997) and Journey to the End of the Millennium (1999).

Linda Grant is a journalist and the author of three novels, including Still Here (2002).
