Meet the Author: Random Acts of Heroic Love

Danny Scheinmann

Random Acts of Heroic Love is a novel with two intertwining threads. The first, set in 1992, is the story of a man coming to terms with the loss of his girlfriend in a road accident in Latin America. The second is based on the true story of Danny Scheinmann’s grandfather who fought for the Austro-Hungarian army in WWI, captured by the Russians in 1915 and sent to Siberia. Kept alive by his love for a girl he hardly knew, he escaped in 1917 and spent three years walking back home across Russia through deathly winters, war and revolution.

Danny Scheinmann is a writer, actor and storyteller. He has performed at the Royal National Theatre and in over 35 countries. His tours include storytelling in Siberia and a year and a half working for an avant-garde theatre group creating shows with street children in Colombia, the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam. He also co-wrote and acted in the acclaimed independent film 'The West Wittering Affair'. He was born in Manchester and lives in London with his wife and three children. This is his first book.
