A Forger’s Life
This is the gripping true story of Adolfo Kaminsky who, narrowly escaping deportation to Auschwitz, was recruited as a teenager to join the Jewish underground. Becoming the primary forger for the French Resistance in Paris, he worked tirelessly with his network to help create papers that would save an estimated 14,000 men, women and children from certain death. After the war, he continued to work for numerous other clandestine organisations for over 25 years.
Kaminsky has kept his past cloaked in secrecy until his daughter and biographer, actress Sarah Kaminsky, convinced him to share his story. In conversation with journalist Natasha Lehrer.
Natasha Lehrer is a literary critic, editor and translator of fiction and non-fiction from French to English. She writes for the TLS, the Guardian, the Nation, and Ha’aretz, among others.
