Emma Richler, Martha Richler

Mordecai Richler is one of Canada’s best known writers. His satirical fiction includes Saint Urbain’s Horseman and The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz. For Jewish Book Week, his daughters discussed the family man behind the legend. In her two novels so far, Emma Richler depicts a family made up of loving and quirky siblings, a beautiful and intelligent mother, and a rambunctious father figure, recalling a childhood of mythic proportions. Martha Richler has a Masters in Art History and is now a cartoonist, with a wit all her own. They looked back on life, with childhood friend Carlo Gebler.

Emma Richler

Emma Richler trained at Circle in the Square and was an actress for ten years. She is the author of two widely acclaimed novels, Sister Crazy andFeed My Dear Dogs.

Martha Richler

Martha Richler was a lecturer at the National Gallery of Art in Washington and is now a freelance artist, most recently, pocket cartoonist for the Evening Standard.

Carlo Gebler

Carlo Gebler is the son of Edna O’Brien. In a moving autobiography, he wrote about his relationship with his own father. He is the author of many novels, essays and children books and is an award-winning filmmaker.
