In this session, Dr Noreena Hertz, leading anti-globalisation advocate, and Justice Albie Sachs, a leader in the struggle against apartheid, discussed the decisions that have led to lives lived on the frontline of the struggle for justice and human rights, and explored to what extent their Jewish identity has influenced them in their activism.

Noreena Hertz is a bestselling author, academic and thinker, whose books have been translated into 18 languages. The Observer named her \"one of the world\'s leading thinkers\" and Vogue called her \"one of the world\'s most inspiring women\". She has spoken at TED and the World Economics Forum and is a sought-after commentator on television and in print.

Justice Albie Sachs

Justice Albie Sachs has just retired from being a member of the South African Constitutional Court having dedicated his life to the promoting human rights and justice in South Africa. His new book is entitled The Strange Alchemy of Life and Law.

Rabbi Professor Jonathan Magonet

Rabbi Professor Jonathan Magonet, former Principal of Leo Baeck College, is a Bible scholar, liturgist and songwriter. He is the author of six books of popular Biblical studies, and has moved into fiction with Netsuke Nation: Tales from Another Japan. He is the editor of the journal European Judaism.
