In his three volume work, The Sages, Rabbi Lau vividly describes how the Rabbis of the Talmud developed novel interpretations of Jewish law which could successfully navigate an ever-changing reality.

Here he discussed with Dr. Raphael Zarum whether today’s religious establishment apparently considers that reality should be adapted to conform to religious law and what can be done to revive the innovative spirit of the Sages.
