For this he paid a high price – losing both an arm and the sight in one eye in a car bomb. The role he played in drawing up the new country’s Constitution was unique and he has only just retired from its Constitutional Court.
Justice Albie Sachs has just retired from being a member of the South African Constitutional Court having dedicated his life to the promoting human rights and justice in South Africa. His new book is entitled The Strange Alchemy of Life and Law.
