The editors of The Ultimate Book Guide joined us at JBW 2010 as well as not one, but two much loved children’s writers, former Children’s Laureate, Anne Fine and Carnegie prize winning Meg Rosoff. They shared their favourite books and suggested a treasure trove of new reading.

Anne Fine

Anne Fine is an award-winning writer for both adults and children. When she was Children’s Laureate in 2001, she set up the Home Library.

Daniel Hahn

Daniel Hahn is a writer, editor and translator. His translations include novels by José Eduardo Agualusa and José Luís Peixoto, and non-fiction ranging from Portuguese Nobel literature laureate José Saramago to Brazilian footballer Pelé. He has been a judge of The Independent Foreign Fiction Prize (a prize he won in 2007) and is currently chair of the Translators Association and interim director of the British Centre for Literary Translation.

Meg Rosoff

Meg Rosoff was born in Boston and educated at Harvard and St Martin’s College, moving to London in 1989. Her books have won or been shortlisted for 20 international book prizes, including the Carnegie Medal, the Orange First Novel Prize and the National Book Awards Young People’s Literature Award.

Susan Reuben

Susan Reuben has been a children’s book editor for 12 years. As well as being an editor for theUltimate Book Guides, she co-owns Baobab Editorial and Design Ltd, a company that carries out freelance work for children’s publishers. She is also busy writing a children’s book about food and religion, to be published by Frances Lincoln.
