Julia Franck

Born in East Berlin, author and free-lance journalist, Julia Franck won The German Prize for her superb novel, The Blind Side of the Heart – spanning both World Wars – and translated into over thirty languages. A gripping read, the heart of the novel is drawn from Julia Franck’s own family history and it will be fascinating to hear about how she blends her own particular web of reality and imagination.
Long Shadows

The horrors of WWII, what led to them and their aftermath, are at the heart of these outstanding novels by German writer Julia Franck (The Blind Side of the Heart), Norman Lebrecht, (The Game of Opposites), and Booker shortlisted Simon Mawer, (The Glass Room). All examine the possibility of forgiveness, the shifting boundaries between good and evil and the enduring legacies of the past.
