Judith Olszowy-Schlanger

Judith Olszowy-Schlanger, FBA (PhD Cantab., 1995, Habilitation Paris-Sorbonne, 2002) is Professor of Hebrew and Jewish Studies at the University of Oxford, President of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies and Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford and Professor of Hebrew and Judaeo-Arabic Manuscript Studies at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, Paris Sciences Lettres. She is also the head of the Hebrew Section of the Institut de Recherche et d’Histoire des Textes, CNRS, and of the international network “Books within Books: Hebrew Fragments in European Libraries”. Her main research interests include Hebrew codicology and palaeography, book history, diplomatic and cultural study of Jewish legal documents, the Cairo Genizah studies as well as medieval Christian Hebraism. Her main publications include Karaite Marriage Documents from the Cairo Geniza. Legal Tradition and Community Life in Mediaeval Egypt and Palestine and Hebrew and Hebrew-Latin Documents from Medieval England: a Diplomatic and Palaeographical Study.
